Computer science is the study of computation itself: how to represent information, design efficient algorithms, and build systems that scale. You'll spend early semesters learning to think in code (usually Python, Java, or C++) and in logic, then move into the theory that underlies everything software touches, data structures, algorithms, computer architecture, and operating systems.

By junior and senior year, most programs let you specialize through electives, artificial intelligence, systems, security, graphics, or theory, while a capstone project asks you to design and build something substantial from scratch, often with a team.
