MajorAtlas is an independent, free reference built to answer one question clearly: what does a given college major actually cover? Most resources that already try to answer this lead with salary charts and job-placement statistics, which turns a question about academic fit into a question about projected income before a student has even looked at the coursework.

We built this site to separate those two things. Every major page here describes what the field of study covers, the typical course sequence, and the skills you'd build, without salary figures, hiring-rate claims, or placement promises. We think that's a more honest starting point: outcomes depend on the school, the economy, the specific career path, and the individual, far more than a single major can predict, and we'd rather not pretend otherwise.

How this content was written

Major profiles were written by researching how majors are typically structured across U.S. colleges and universities, drawing on how fields are commonly organized (course sequences, core skill areas, and related disciplines), not copied from any single school's catalog. Course lists and skill descriptions are meant to be broadly representative, not a guarantee of what any specific program offers.
